What is Airbrush Makeup?

Airbrush makeup is makeup that is sprayed on to the face and body using a fine mist. The airbrushing technique provides a flawless, sheer result that is desired for the film and television industry. It is perfect for close-up shots. Makeup artists like the natural-looking effect airbrush makeup gives. Airbrush makeup also prevents product contamination between clients. Since the makeup is in jars that attach to the air brush, artists can apply it without contact between clients. Models like the fact that airbrush makeup lessens the pulling and tugging on the skin.

So Emily, how did you become a Makeup Artist?

Six years ago I received my certification for media makeup at Manhattan's Learning Institute for Beauty Sciences in New York City.  After that I went on to pursue a freelance career with Urban Decay Cosmetics, Bobby Brown and other cosmetic lines. During the time I spent in NYC I worked on clients who were being nominated at the Daytime Emmy's to starring in their first indi film. I learned the technique of Airbrushing from Shelia McKenna of Kett Cosmetics out of NY.
